WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
A woman...a typewriter... a big knife... & a HUGE jar of peanut butter. Diana Shortes new work, White Sauce and Diaper Babies employs verbatim text, video projection & ambient sound to explore the emotional & psychological complexities of Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Anne Sexton's life & work. Sexton was diagnosed as an "hysteric" in 1956. The subsequent work of this "housewife -cum-poet" straddles that pesky & ever-present chasm between emotional unrest & political revolution. Also on the 8th: SALLY GREENHOUSE ponders that eternally haunting question "who the fuck are the Etruscans?"...and other mysteries of the universe. also on the 9th: PAULA HUNTER "The Unexpected" centers on how we react physically & emotionally to the unanticipated, combining movement, storytelling & installation. She's smack dab in the middle of real chaos, or is she only stuck in the chaotic anxiety of her own mind? Advance purchase tickets are $12 (students/seniors $8).
