Dear Prudence is a new play by Susan Kathryn that is, at once, a sex farce, love story and domestic comedy about a lovable nymphomaniac, her assorted suitors and the long-suffering roommates with whom she shares a cramped New York apartment. At the heart of the story are the unlikely bonds and particular sense of family that result in New York when - by necessity or sublet - strangers from different backgrounds live together under one roof. A sisterhood, of sorts, develops between Prudence, the charming nympho of the play's title; Rose, a tough-talking Bronx native with connections; and Haley, a Swarthmore-schooled WASP from Mainline Philadelphia. How these women accommodate one another's cultural differences and habits (nymphomania!) is challenged in a whole new way on the eve of the arrival of Prudence's one true love from England.
