WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
Comedy of Errors involves the story of a family split in two -- and the search for the other half. Egeon, a merchant from Syracuse, loses his wife and one of his twin sons in a ship wreck. He raises his remaining son, Antipholus of Syracuse alone, along with his son's servant Dromio of Syracuse. When his son turns 18, he goes off in search of his twin brother, taking his servant with him. After 5 years of not hearing from his son, Egeon goes off in search of him and ends up in the city of Ephesus. Ephesus and Syracuse are rival cities and there is a ban of anyone traveling between the two cities. Egeon is condemned to death. He has no idea that, on that same day, his beloved son has also arrived in Ephesus. And in this town lives his other son, Antipholus of Ephesus, his servant, Dromio of Ephesus (twin to Dromio of Syracuse) and his dearly loved wife, the Abbess of the city's priory. Our production of Comedy of Errors takes place in 1910, during the Edwardian period. Our costumes reflect that period, with a little steam punk thrown in!
