WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

Coffeehouse Chronicles #145 honors the career of María Irene Fornés with panelists, live performances, and material from the La MaMa Archives. Moderated by Gwendolyn Alker, the panelists include Gabriel Berry, Migdalia Cruz, Donald Eastman, Robert Heide, Morgan Jenness, Michelle Memran, and Didi O'Connell. The performers include Sheila Dabney, Rebecca Schull, Lily Lipman, Aidan Hart, and Kayla Juntilla. They re-create parts of Mud (directed by Omri Ariav and introduced by Tyaela Nieves) and Reba's monologue from What of the Night.

Coffeehouse Chronicles is a free educational performance series exploring the history and development of off-off-Broadway from its inception within the Village "Coffeehouse Theaters" of the 1960s through today. Part artist portrait, part creative event, part history lesson, part community forum, the program's mission is to provide a home, as did La MaMa founder Ellen Stewart, for personal and intimate engagement with art.
