WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
The 78th Street Theatre Lab and Clancy Productions present Don Nigro's Cincinnati. Directed by John Clancy, winner of the coveted 2002 Herald Angel Award for directing, the play received high critical praise when it opened at Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2002. Cincinnati peeks into the mind of Susan, a philosophy professor confronting grief, guilt and the fact that she's no longer in control of her own thoughts. A chilling glimpse at a woman who is slowly losing her mind, the play hauntingly mirrors a real-life medical condition that challenges its star. In July, 2002 while in rehearsals for the production's Edinburgh premiere, Walsh was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor. Following surgery, Walsh was determined to bring the show to Edinburgh as planned. The production opened in August to ecstatic reviews, earning Walsh The Scotsman's prestigious Fringe First award, the Jack Tinker Spirit of the Fringe Award, and a Best Actress nomination by The Stage.
