WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
Winner of the Best Solo show at the New York Fringe Festival, Brain Freeze is the harrowing story of John Kawie, an Arab American stand up comic that had a stroke at the height of his career. Written and performed by Kawie himself and under the direction of Jerry Diner, we follow Kawie's journey in the aftermath of the stroke from how he learned to live a life through "post it" notes to his hilarious group therapy sessions to ultimately how he readjusts his life, the people around him, and his art in order to recover.
Praised by Bruce Weber in the NY Times as a show that is "remarkable" and a show "illustrates the strain and cost of perpetual hope."
NYTheatre.com claims "Kawie presents an honest, generous, surprising, and ultimately touching account of his own Mt. Everest."
A special industry performance will be held on Tuesday, September 30th at 3pm at the Promenade Theater 2162 Broadway.
