WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
BMI Songwriters Showcase is part of the New York Musical Theatre Festival Concert Series.
BMI, the Prospect Theatre Company, and Musical Mondays Theatre Lab presents songwriters who emerged from the BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop performing a concert on September 14 at 59E59 Theaters (59 East 59th Street) at 8pm. The event features a number of Tony Award-winners, including composer/lyricist Maury Yeston (Nine and Titanic), writers Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx (Avenue Q), and composer Judd Woldin (Raisin). The latter joins Drama desk-winning lyricist Richard Engquist (Kuni-Leml) in songs from their recent off-Broadway musical Little Ham. Drama Desk Award winner Gerard Alessandrini, creator of the Off-Broadway mainstay Forbidden Broadway, hosts.
