WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

Before the Irish "Celtic Tiger"... before the plays of Martin McDonagh and Conor McPherson - there was Antoine O Flatharta ... Blood Guilty, written for Dublin's Abbey Theatre in 1989, tells the story of a nation emerging unto a new understanding of itself.

Based on actual events in rural Ireland, it pits two sets of brothers - old and young - against one another, laying bare the wounds that have shaped the Irish psyche.
An almost mythic depiction of family and sacrifice, the play gets to the heart of questions shared by all of us: Where does responsibility lie for the sins of the past and present? How do we move forward?

This 20th anniversary production of the play is presented with an international cast by The Bronx Company and Whole in the Wall.

" a tough and subtle piece (…) in which the young are doomed to repeat what they cannot understand"
- Fintan O'Toole (Irish Times)

What are other members saying?

Fast & gripping with a cast that rocks!
Always a treat to walk into a humble NYC theater space and have your world rocked for 45 minutes. The play draws you in immediately and moves right along. The writing is clever and charming, the work well cast, the tickets priced for real people at $15 & $18. Despite a couple of opening night stutters this is a production that has clearly found its way. There will be only fourteen performances so take note of that and the fact that Ill be returning toward the end of the run. Sussmans Roving Reviews
