WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

The birds and the ants are set to invade your house. Somewhere, there is a war. You're not a doctor, you're not an inchworm, how you gonna set things right?

On The Bright Side, Louisy and Syl live happily together in the safety of their treehouse until Syl ventures off to be a hero in the far away war-torn Lop Side. Alone for the first time, Louisy falls victim to the whims of tiny creatures at her doorstep. When the two sides collide, impossibilities become real, and both realize the line between right and wrong is not as clear as they thought.

With an army of puppets and a magical wind creating fantastical worlds, Bird House is an upside down fairytale of loyalty, loss and growing up under siege.

"There are some evenings at the theater that just make being a critic worthwhile...BIRD HOUSE is a magical play."

"Writer Kate Marks has accomplished what other writers only dream about."
-Ashley Griffin, TheaterOnline.com

"Bird House is a lovely and well-executed fairy tale." - Will Fulton, NYTheatre.Com

The play's action begins in a brightly colored tree house in a land called The Bright Side where Louisy (Cotton Wright) and Syl (Christina Shipp) live in a sheltered ignorance that is decidedly not bliss. Initially, the primary source of their anxiety is that the two birds in their cuckoo clock (named "Cuck" and "Koo") can't be made to[...]
