WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
Bond Street Theatre and Exile Theatre (Afghanistan) present the U.S. premiere of Beyond The Mirror. The show is a pictoral journey through three decades of war and occupation in Afghanistan and a search for identity and renewal. Woven through myths and memories, family stories and first-hand accounts, traditional dances and live music by rebob master, Quraishi, Beyond the Mirror is a tapestry of stories, both desperate and hopeful.
The original production, written and created by the two companies, is enacted through shadow play, video and visual effects, puppetry, live music, symbolic representation and creative physicality. The two groups first met in the refugee camps of northern Pakistan shortly after September 11th and have been collaborating on projects for adults and children in Afghanistan ever since. Beyond the Mirror is the first US-Afghan collaboration in recent history and a US premiere.
No performance Thursday, November 24.
