ARTIFEX. The Artistic Life of Emperor Nero.
Great Show
by MonicaM82 on Friday, Aug 28th, 2009 at 1:18 pmFinally some theatricality at the Fringe Festival! Artifex, The Artistic Life of Emperor Nero, is an Italian play by Davide Ambrogi which explores the life of the artist. A wordly play, a journey into the Artists mind without a traditional script, an experimental work of art in which an all-Italian cast brings to life the joys and the struggles of the Roman Emperor Nero. Even though their pronunciation may not be perfect, it is still amazing to see actors acting in a language that is not their own. On a negative note, not all the actors seemed to be connected to the deep thoughts their characters were expressing: the whole show was carried on only by the talent of Alessandro Di Somma, playing Nero, and Marco Zordan, playing Otone, the best actor of Neros court and, no doubt, the best actor on stage. But still, I must say this was anyway one of the best shows Ive seen this year at the Fringe Festival and I highly recommend to see it!
