WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
Twenty years after his first production at La MaMa, world theatre director Gerald Thomas returns there to stage Anchor Pectoris his first performance work that is not built from a written text. The production is entirely assembled at La MaMa, conceived by Thomas and developed in collaboration with an ensemble of actors and designers to be recruited in New York that draws upon members of La MaMa's Great Jones Repertory.
Anchor Pectoris is a neurological term for depression, and is a title Thomas originally intended for a play at the National Theater in London, where he is presently living and working. This performance is staged with three corridors, each made from scrims and representing different eras and time zones.
