WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
Alonzo King's Lines Ballet returns to the Joyce with a new program of work including The Moroccan Project and Migration.
The Moroccan Project is set to the vibrant drumming of Gnawa ceremonies as a back drop for the haunting strains of oud (lute) and violin. Amid shifting rhythms and echoing voices, the talented dancers of Lines Ballet move with unexpected intimacy and grace.
Migration performs to music composed by Pharoah Sanders, Miguel Frasconi and Leslie Stuck. The piece explores the awakening of complex bodies, and the beauty of their constant evolution into new forms.
