The scene: Elizabeth, a young career-oriented New Yorker, buys her first house. Before all the boxes are unpacked, her overbearing mom, libertine sister, lesbian friend, male carpenter, and new boyfriend turn the place into a "Desperate Household." But the old house has seen dysfunction before. As Elizabeth's disheveled world lurches forward, a parallel universe intrudes - the world of the house's 19th Century family and their hidden crime. A play about love, death, identity and evolution, Abandonment is a delicious mix of comedy and Chaos Theory, reminding us that the past is not always as far away as we might think.
