Saw the distinct presence of the original play. Very difficult to adapt seen many many fail. This production seemed fresh and the acting was at a higher level then your usual off off off affair. First time I have enjoyed a La Ronde. Bravo!

I loved the show... an afterthought

I was replaying the show in my mind and I realized that many players had high sexual status in one of their appearances and low sexual status in the other and that this worked to show the ambivalent nature of sexual drives. It was a very thoughtful and intelligent work.

I loved the show.

I enjoyed the form. I also liked the reincorporation of ideas and themes. The overall message was deep--I think I will spend another couple of days mulling it over before I figure out what I learned from it. I came away thinking that sex is the currency of intimacy and that many people engage in sex with people that they are not really intimate with. And so we lie about our motives and experiences in order to create a more desirable illusion that is fundamentally bankrupt in terms of providing long-term happiness and meaning in life. But it fills the moment with excitement. And there were very many well timed funny moments to break the tension. My shrink told me once that a reasonable goal in life is to "engage your talents in meaningful pursuit" and I have been striving to do this ever since. I thought this when I watched this performance--The Collective is yet another vehicle for an actor to do this.
