WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

Peccadillo Theatre Company presents a reading of 27 rue de Fleurus, Paris, written by Ted Sod and Lisa Koch. Dan Wackerman directs, with musical direction by Nick DeGregorio.

27, rue de Fleurus, Paris is an irreverent chamber musical told from the perspective of Alice B. Toklas. Alice recounts some of the events of the nearly 40 years she spent living with Gertrude Stein. At first, she focuses specifically on the salons that she and Gertrude hosted at 27 rue de Fleurus. During the play, Gertrude grows tired of Alice's lack of panache for telling her perspective of their story. Gertrude tries to hijack the play; but is silenced when Alice confronts her about her relationship with May Bookstaver and the manuscripts and love letters May inspired. The musical ends with Alice alone, 21 years after Gertrude's death.

Cast includes: Joanna Glushak (Sweet Smell of Success, Les Miserables) as Alice and Carolann Page (Asylum, Blood On The Dining Room Floor) as Gertrude; the rest of the ensemble who play multiple roles, including men, is comprised of: Suzanne Grodner; Lorinda Lisitza; Natalie Moore; Marci Reid and Kristie Dale Sanders.
