Blizzard of 2003 Forces Cancellation or Postponement of NYC Shows and Events

Due to blizzard conditions in New York City, several performances and events set for this evening are being cancelled or postponed.

The Phantom of the Opera, one of relatively few Broadway shows that have regularly scheduled Monday evening performances, will not go on tonight. A spokesman for TeleCharge told TheaterMania that there has been no blanket cancellation of Broadway shows, but ticket holders should phone TeleCharge at 212-239-6200 or Ticketmaster at 646-473-1162 later this afternoon for an update on the situation.

Among the postponements already announced are the annual “Broadway Bears” auction, which was to have taken place at B.B. King’s this evening as a benefit for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, and playwright David Lindsay-Abaire’s appearance at the Drama Book Shop. But TheaterMania’s Scott Siegel informs us that “The Broadway Musicals of 1925,” the latest presentation of the Broadway by the Year series at The Town Hall, will go on as scheduled tonight at 8pm.
