WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

Yesterdays: An Evening with Billie Holiday by Reenie Upchurch, stars Vanessa Rubin with musicians: Levi Barcourt, David Jackson, and Bernard Davis. Its directed by Woodie King Jr. The story is based on Billie Holiday's last performance ias witnessed by playwright Upchurch. In this moving evening of theatre and music we hear some of Holiday's most memorable songs: Fine and Mellow, Deep Song,Strange Fruit, My Man,, Yesterdays, Lover Man,,etc. The play also focus on Holiday's drug problems, New York City's Cabaret License, Artie Shaw, Bessie Smith and historical musicians of the 1940s & 50s
