WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
New York Theatre Workshop presents the American premiere of WHAT YOU GET AND WHAT YOU EXPECT (CE QUI ARRIVE ET CE QU'ON ATTEND), which has been wildly acclaimed by both French and English audiences and critics. Art and politics collide, when two rival architects await the fate of their competing proposals to design the first monument on the moon. They soon find themselves entwined in a web of sexual betrayal, artistic pursuits and political intrigue.

If anything thought provoking comes out of New York Theater Workshop's light, unfocused French import What You Get and What You Expect, it is the introduction to this continent of the species known as Euro-yuppie, the less charming and introspective cousin of our own urban professional. There are few bright spots in this play about architects fighting for a shot to build mankind's first monument--the planted American flag aside--on the moon.
If the plot to build on the moon sounds far fetched to you, it also seems that way to the characters. They spend little time focusing on the project, concentrating instead on hashing out who is sleeping with whom, and whether or not their sex lives an[...]
