WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
Sam Mendes directs Chekhov's Uncle Vanya, in a version of the play by Brian Friel. Set on a remote farm in the Russian countryside, Chekhov's masterpiece demonstrates the folly of love and the perils of inaction. A struggle over the sale of the family estate is the centerpiece of this bittersweet tale of characters helplessly enthralled to events and feelings beyond their control.
