WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
Helmed by director J.R. Sullivan, associate artistic director of the Tony Award winning Utah Shakespearian Festival, Twelfth Night explores the isle of Illyria and the passion that runs amok through its cast of colorful lovelorn characters. They love the people they can't have and ignore the people they can. They love tragic maidens and women in disguise, lute players, and lovelorn dukes. Sometimes they don't even know which gender their beloved is--and it doesn't matter. In Shakespeare's joyful, madcap dance of mistaken identities, cunning plans, and miraculous discoveries, the only real mistake you can make is not to love at all.

In the Pearl Theatre Company's robust production of William Shakespeare's Twelfth Night, being performed under the watchful direction of J.R. Sullivan, this rueful comedy takes pains to allow for poignancy along with its playful shenanigans. Indeed, this story of shipwrecked twins Viola (Ali Ahn) and Sebastian (Joseph Midyett), who eventually find love in Illyria, owes much of its success to the performances of its supporting players.
Sean McNall as Feste (The Fool) sets the tone of the piece with his boyish innocence that belies his sharply knowing wit. He gives the play its comic drive and underscores, with his musical voice, the beauty of the language. His performance is perfectly balanc[...]
