Triumph of Love, the 1997 musical cult-classic, is
receiving its first New York revival in a concert version starring actors new to the Manhattan theater scene, produced by a company that is itself an exciting new-comer: AnyMinuteNow Productions.
Complete with gender-swapping, mistaken identities and love-at-first-sight, Triumph embraces the theatrical conventions of its 18th Century French roots (it's based on the play of the same name by Marivaux) and pairs them with contemporary sensibilities of clever banter, sexy slap-stick and buoyant musicality.
The musical was adapted by James Magruder (book), Susan Birkenhead
(lyrics) and Jeffrey Stock (music).
