WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

Thornton Wilder's Theophilus North is the story of a young man who leaves his job and family and sets out to see the world, unencumbered by obligations or plans. But when his $25 used car breaks down near the start of his global tour, our hero must unexpectedly support himself in the privileged world of Newport, RI. In this glittering society dominated by leisure, Theophilus's unusual gifts lead to outlandish schemes and curious friendships - and point him toward his most exotic destination: home. There is an additional matinee on Saturday, October 14 at 2 PM.

Matthew Burnett's play is untrue to the spirit of Thornton Wilder's novel, but Carl Forsman's beautiful production nevertheless casts a spell.
