WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

The Unlikely Adventure of Race McCloud, Private Eye is a comic-book style adventure/comedy about the second-most clueless detective in Westside City. When his secret-agent family goes missing, it is up to Race and his 15 year-old super-genius niece Cookie to find them. Their search takes them around the world, and they soon face off against a masked vigilante, vampires, werewolves, ancient Egyptian curses, Perfect Troopers, and more as they hunt for their missing relatives.

At FringeNYC, Race McCloud played to sold out audiences, including a late-night Costume Party performance, where audience members were encouraged to attend dressed as a favorite character from TV, film, or comics. At the festival, Race McCloud was a hit among the fanboys and fangirls who eat up such superhero fare as Spider-Man and The Dark Knight, and it was also a big hit among families, with parents and kids alike eagerly expressing their enthusiasm for Race and Cookie's unlikely adventure.

WELCOME BACK, RACE!
Saw this as part of last years Fringe Fest and found it to be one of the most professional and satisfying productions of the half-dozen or so I saw. The thing that surprised me was how everyone found something to love in this show! Kids love the action/adventure -- if this was a Saturday morning live action series, it would be a natural. The college kids and the late teens were completely with it, being I suppose really into the genres of both superhero and what would appear to be graphic novel come to life. And most surprising -- but only up until about a minute and a half in -- was the fact that the old folks like me -- the parents, the 30-til-death set, and such -- were absolutely CAPTIVATED by the intelligent humor. It was like walking in expecting "Lion King" and instead finding myself in a Noel Coward comedy. Its a piece that not only seeks to charm several vastly different audiences, but one of the few that with absolute success reaches each on its own level fully. NOBODY LEAVES UNFULFILLED and I am THRILLED to see this show return. I will be in the audience once again. My guess being that a real budget beyond festival limitations can only make this bright and deftly written piece even better, and I hope it enjoys a very happy run. Dont miss this. FOUR STARS: Nobodys Perfect -- but in his imperfections, Race, as well as "Race", comes darned close!
