The Pretty Trap (the one act version of The Glass Menagerie) by Tennessee Williams and directed by Christopher Hart is a staged reading which stars Tony Award winner Elaine Stritch (July 12 only), Jake Robards and Tasha Lawrence. This program also features Tony Award winners, Marian Seldes and Len Cariou and Tony Nominee Penny Fuller performing in two other one-act gems. --a special surprise. Come see for yourself on July 12th!
Amanda Wingfield (the mother in Williams' The Glass Menagerie) considered young girls to be a pretty trap and hence the title of Williams' precursor to his Menagerie masterpiece. The Pretty Trap was first presented by Food for Thought, the sister company of Cause Celebre, and is considered to be a comedy by the playwright himself. Another winning combination--theatre icon Elaine Stritch playing one of the quintessential Williams characters in a very rare version.
