WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
The Clockwork Theatre presents The Monument, a story of hatred and forgiveness which emerges from the realities of brutal genocidal war, directed by Beverly Brumm (Professor Emertia at SUNY New Paltz).
Winner of the 1996 Governor General's Award for Drama, The Monument tells the story of Stetko, a young soldier convicted of war crimes. Moments before his execution, a mysterious woman named Mejra appears and offers him a choice: he must either agree to do everything she says for the rest of his life, or face the consequence of death for his actions. Compelling, political, and dark, The Monument explores morality in the shadow of genocide.
There are added performances on Sunday, January 21st at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. and Sunday, January 28th at 2 p.m.
