The Jacksonian is one of the most gripping plays you will ever see. It is additionally enhanced by the marvelous talent of the great Ed Harris (more about Ed later). Everything works in this presentation. Pulitzer Prize winning author Beth Henley (Crimes of the Heart) weaves a bitter tale of a middle aged dentist rapidly spiraling downward and taking his family with him. The dialog is infectious. Director Robert Falls does a stellar job in this challenging production. He doesn't miss a beat nor an opportunity to make the audience delightfully upset. The cast is perfect. Each member performs his or her role flawlessly. In particular, Ed Harris' portrayal of the self destructing Dr. Perch shows us why he is one of America's premiere actors. His performance is unforgettable. You will not be able to get his moving presentation out of your mind for a long time. This is NOT a feel good type of play. Far from it! However, if you want a great night out and see one of the best plays on or off Broadway performed by an equally great cast I urge you to see this memorable play.
