WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

Architect Edward Braff dangles by his neck in midair. His dreams of completing a dazzling cathedral leave him caught, literally, between heaven and hell. Amid a kind of architectural purgatory of raw beams, columns, and flapping ropes, a peculiar troupe of performers launches into marvelous riffs on a single story--his story: the story of the Hanging Man, his unrealized potential, and the hopeless and hilarious struggle to earn his death.

Medieval and modern, ridiculous and raw, The Hanging Man's bitter-sweet-bitter tale is conceived and realized by London's aptly named Improbable Theatre, a troupe widely recognized as one of the most original voices at work on the international stage.

A co-production with The West Yorkshire Playhouse, Wexner Center for the Arts at The Ohio State University, the Walker Art Center, The Lyric Hammersmith, and the Wiener Festwochen. Produced in assocaition with Pomegranate Arts.
