WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
The Gentleman Dancing-Master revels in women who outpace men in wit and spunk, and children who outmaneuver their elders. Add to this fancy dancing, swordplay, and a healthy sprinkling of ribaldry for the full Restoration recipe. The prime targets of Wycherley's satire are Don Diego, who insists on emulating the strict code of the Spanish court, and his nephew Monsieur de Paris, just as committed to the fripperies of the French. Individuality, after a wild ride, triumphs over affectation. Directed by Gus Kaikkonen.
