WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
The New York premiere of Horton Foote's The Day Emily Married finds Richard Murray and Emily Davids, newlyweds, moving in with the bride's elderly parents. Richard seems like the ideal husband for anxious parents Lee and Lyd Davis's daughter Emily, whose first marriage ended in a sad divorce. When Richard shows himself to be greedy and untrustworthy, tensions in the already strained family threaten to cleave parents from child.
