WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
Michael Mayer directs The Credeaux Canvas, a new play by Keith Bunin. The show tells the story of three young dreamers trying to create lives for themselves in New York's East Village. Driven by big plans and artistic ambitions, Jamie, his girlfriend Amelia and their painter friend Winston soon become emeshed in a bold and reckless scheme through which devastating discoveries about one another come to light.

Keith Bunin, author of The Credeaux Canvas at Playwrights
Horizons, looks as if he has many good works in him. He probably shouldn't have tried, however, to stuff more than one of them into this promising but over-reaching and ultimately fragmented comedy/drama.
Right now, Bunin's most impressive gift is the ability to write dialogue that is smart, funny, and revealing--often simultaneously. He seems very aware of this gift, for it isn't every playwright who plunks two characters down in facing chairs and has them gab for 15 or 20 minutes without moving.
