WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
A world-weary tramp stands on a hillside and surveys the universe in Samuel Beckett's Texts for Nothing, adapted, directed, and featuring Bill Irwin. By turns perplexed, amazed, bemused, and desperate, the tramp searches for the words to describe his state only to discover those words, like the boggy ground he's standing on--and like life itself--are slippery, unsteady, and entirely unreliable. Written five years before Beckett's masterpiece Waiting for Godot, the 13 short prose pieces comprising this production explore the landscape soon to be occupied by Didi, Gogo, Pozzo, and Lucky. Funny, mysterious, and philosophical, the texts are lesser-known works by one of the twentieth century's greatest writers.
