All the lonely people, where do they all come from? When the Beatles were singing of Eleanor Rigby and Father McKenzie, all the lonely people seemed Liverpudlian, but Alan Bennett must be convinced that they hail from his hometown of Leeds and environs. He appears to have had a relationship with every stay-at-home in the vicinity -- or, perhaps while wandering through the neighborhood, he overheard voluble locals revealing their tales to a third party.
