WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
Sometimes you find love in the strangest of places -- and that's exactly what happens when Nick goes to the local aquarium. In Adam Bock's quirky comedy, a group of friends question the commitments of their eclectic love lives. Second Stage's presents the New York premiere of Bock's Swimming in the Shallows as part of its Uptown Series. Trip Cullman directs.
The cast features Michael Arden (Broadway's Big River and Off-Broadway's Bare), Rosemarie DeWitt (who recently co-starred in Second Stage Theatre's production of Danny and the Deep Blue Sea), Logan Marshall-Green (well known as Trey Atwood on the hit TV show The O.C. and as Richard Heller on the current season of 24), Mary Schultz ( Off-Broadway's Little Egypt, Slavs!, and Mad Forest, among many others), and Murphy Geyer (Art at the Cleveland Play House, The Sopranos, Oz).

Adam Bock's delightfully offbeat romantic comedy Swimming in the Shallows features lesbian wedding planning, a man in love with a shark, and a woman who wants to own only eight things. The play immerses the audience in a queer world wherein bizarre situations can begin to seem completely normal, but despite its surreal elements, it is grounded in true-to-life anxieties, longings, and expressions of love. Directed by Trip Cullman and showcasing a pitch-perfect ensemble cast, Shallows is receiving a truly outstanding New York premiere production as part of Second Stage Theatre's "Uptown" series, which is dedicated to developing the skills of emerging playwrights and other early-career artists.[...]
