After a successful run at the Pantheon, Illyria Theatre's revision of this 1995 Richard Rogers Award winner transfers to Chelsea Playhouse. Splendora tells the story of Miss Jessica Gatewood, a beautiful and intelligent young woman who has come to the aforementioned dreary Texas town to run the county bookmobile. Her refined ways and civic pride captivate everybody-including the town pastor Brother Leggett, who falls in love with her and proposes marriage, But this town's newest and most popular resident is not who or what she seems.
