WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
Urban Stages in association with Sara Katz resents
Joe Iconis' world premiere of ReWrite, a musical comedy triple feature, directed by John Simpkins.
ReWrite deals with time. With deadlines. The deadlines one imposes on oneself and the deadlines that the universe imposes on us. It's about trying to live up to the expectations you created for yourself and trying to do it before your time runs out. It's about normal people, not the sort of people who get musicals written about them. Normal people dealing with little problems that seem huge and huge problems boiled down to something a bit more manageable.
The program includes the mini-musicals Nelson Rocks, Miss Marzipan and The Process.

RE:
I saw a new musical at Urban Stages, located at 259 West 30th St. called ?Rewrite.? It is a beautifully crafted show. Both Written, and Composed by a handsome, and talented Joe Iconis, this show brings you to places that most writers cant. The show is simply wonderful. I really want to see it again.

Although Iconis (who is also the bookwriter, as well as a fixture on stage as piano accompanist) has some fun with details that tie the musicals together, he's basically crafted three stand-alone pieces which add up to an uneven whole under John Simpkins' direction.
In Nelson Rocks!, the first and best of the show's three mini-musicals, Iconis' peppy pop score is perfectly suited to his cute, comic story about high sc[...]
