WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
Private Peaceful, presented as a part of the 2006 Brits Off Broadway series, is a vivid and searing tale of a 16-year-old World War 1 soldier's final hours before a dawn execution by firing squad. Tommo Peaceful looks back at his short but joyful past growing up in rural Devon; his exciting first days of school; the accident in the forest that killed his father; his adventures with Molly, the love of his life; and the battles and injustices of war that brought him to the front line.
Adapted by Bristol Old Vic's Artistic Director, Simon Reade, from the book by Michael Morpurgo, Children's Laureate, the production is directed by Simon Reade.
