WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
At Power Balladz you can celebrate the best music of the 70's 80's and
90'sand liberate the rock star inside of you. The formula is simple: start with some blood-pumping arena rock songs by Motley Crue, Poison, Guns
'N'Roses, Journey and other kick-ass arena bands, add some talented rock singers, give them a full band, lots of lights, a fog machine, a video
projection screen, plenty of leather and long hair, and you've got a concert, indeed an extravaganza. And while the Power Balladz band knows how to rock, the show takes an unexpected turn when the high school
sweetheart of one of the musicians stumbles into the show after ten
years apart, raising the question -- will he be man enough to finally
score the girl of his dreams?
An evening at Power Balladz begins 30 minutes prior to curtain with
interactive trivia games, rock trivia contests and an opportunity for
theaudience to socialize and meet their fellow concert-goers. Following
theperformance, ticket holders have access to a live-band rock anthem
karaoke show during which they are welcome to perform on stage and
realize their own Power Balladz fantasies.
August 5 to August 9 is billed as "Show Your Tattoo Week" - audience members who reveal their tattoo will be entitled to a free drink.
August 12 to 16 is "Favorite Band Week" - patrons who wear a t-shirt with the name of their favorite rock band will receive a free drink.
August 19 to 23 is the inevitable "Mullet Week" - anyone with a mullet will, yes, get a free drink.

RE:Great Show!!!
Caught a preview last week and was blown away. Im typically not a big fan of the "Juke Box" shows that have become popular, but this one is worth seeing. The songs are performed so well that you can close your eyes and believe that youre hearing Freddie Mercury, Steve Perry, Poison, REO Speedwagon, etc. Granted Im a big fan of this genre of music, but it makes me super critical and this show is a bullseye. In stark contrast I was gravely disappointed with the big brother rock musical, Rock of Ages. The harmonies are modified and the performers couldnt pull off the tunes the way theyre meant to be sung. Go see Power Balladz now! You wont regret it.

Power Balladz, the interactive concert designed for die-hard rock enthusiasts now at the Midtown Theater, proves to be an enjoyable evening for fans of that music, as well as genuine fun for those who normally find themselves watching Glee for their musical entertainment. In many ways, though, it's also simply Rock of Ages with a lot less plot and production values.
Through a series of one-liners and a few imaginative visual jabs conceived by creators Mike Todaro, Dan Nycklemoe, and Peter Rothstein, the show's passionate and strong-voiced stars, Dieter Bierbauer and Scott Richard Foster, tell a quick story of their experience growing up with power ballads.
