WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
Jean Cocteau Repertory continues its 30th anniversary season with Tom Stoppard's Night and Day, a compelling comedy-drama about race, politics, and the power of the press. Set in an emerging African nation, two reporters and a photographer collide with an English colonial and his wife in their jungle manor. As the revolutionary forces draw near, fantasy merges with reality, and questions of a free press versus union solidarity begin to pale in comparison to a country fighting for its life.

Set in a jungle manor in the embattled African nation of Kambawe, Night and Day begins with a pair of London journalists, desperate to break a news story, imposing on the hospitality of the manor's English colonialist owners, the Carsons. Geoffrey Carson has ties with Kambawe's dictator and the opposing rebel leader, a connection that the reporter Richard Wagner hopes to use to his advantage. In the meantime, there is much drama over events and affairs past, politics present, and a great deal of arguing about the value and place of journalism.
Night and Day is the third production of the Jean Cocteau Rep's 30th Anniversary season, and the latest in a line of several Tom Stoppard works [...]
