WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
Tony Award-winner Brent Carver heads the cast in the world premiere of Richard Nelson and Ricky Ian Gordon's new musical, My Life With Albertine. Based on the "Albertine" sections of Marcel Proust's Remembrance of Things Past, the show is about the complicated and obsessive relationship between a young man of Society and a fiery, middle-classs girl. The cast, directed by Nelson, also includes Emily Skinner, Amy Spanger, Chad Kimball, Kelli O'Hara, and more.
This production inaugurates Playwrights Horizons' eagerly-anticipated new $27 milliion complex.
Student rush tickets will be available for $15 (cash only, day of performance).
The first preview on Tuesday, February 18 will be "Pay What You Can" night, with a limited number of tickets offered on a walk-up, cash-only basis, starting one hour before showtime. Limit two tickets per person.

My Life with Albertine, the inaugural production of the new Playwrights Horizons space, begins at the end of the story it tells. A makeshift proscenium arch is at center stage in the middle of an ornate drawing room; actors sit at the sides, apparently waiting for their cues. The curtain parts and an older man ushers Albertine through it, stepping aside and urging her to sing for the audience. Sing she does, a letter of apology and a wish for reconciliation with her lover. Then the older man, after explaining that he has just showed us the ending of his tale, starts at the beginning, when a much younger version of himself first met Albertine.
