"With the election right around the corner, its time to speak out," says the title character of A.R. Gurney's Mrs. Farnsworth. Following a sold-out run this past spring, the acerbic and insightful political comedy returns for what director Jim Simpson has labeled the show's "convention run." It began previews during the Democratic National Convention in Boston and will play through the Republican National Convention in New York, although its doubtful that delegates to the RNC will wander down to the Flea Theatre to catch the production.

Political scandal, cover-ups, and secrets are at the heart of this comedy, which stars Sigourney Weaver (in the title role) along with veteran actors John Lithgow and Danny Burstein. Gurney is in top form here, treating his political subject with the attention to character nuance and the comical observance of upper-class WASP mannerisms that made many of his earlier works so popular.
