WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

Poetic and prescient, Raymond Scannell's virtuosic solo performance tells the story of Julian Neary, whose childhood gift for mimicry--from Columbo and Jimmy Stewart to Billie Holiday and Morrissey--becomes his ticket out of 1980s Ireland, until the chaos he sees in the outside world reflects his own chaos within.

Winner of Best Male Performer at the Dublin Fringe Festival, Scannell takes the audience on a moving and mesmerizing journey, exploring imitation, authenticity, and what happens to a nation that leaves its heritage behind.

Storytelling: Past, Present and Future
If you love live performance, see Mimic. It merges the ancient storyteller sitting in the dark, face lit by the fire, with the ambivalent made-up modern performer recounting to his audience a life in the near future so dark, masked and twisted, that incest, suicide and patricide are creative acts.
