WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
Middletown is a deeply moving and funny new play exploring the universe of a small American town. As a friendship develops between longtime resident John Dodge and new arrival Mary Swanson, the lives of the inhabitants of Middletown intersect in strange and poignant ways in a journey that takes them from the local library to outer space and points between.

The almost cartoon-like renderings of two suburban houses that are the focal point of David Zinn's scenic design for Will Eno's Middletown, playing at the Vineyard Theatre, belie the depth of emotion that's underneath the surface of this quirky and richly imagined play. And, in this immaculately staged production from director Ken Rus Schmoll, this modern-day equivalent to Thornton Wilder's Our Town proves to be a richly engaging and satisfying theatrical experience.
