WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

Big sisters have big responsibilities, especially when their little brother is a big trouble-maker! Follow the escapades of bunny siblings Max and Ruby in this world premiere musical based on
the series of stories by Rosemary Wells and the popular TV programs on Nick Jr. and Noggin. With music and lyrics by Carol Hall, book by Glen Berger and direction by Randy White.

This theater is named for the Off-Broadway producer and philanthropist, Lucille Lortel. This space is considered one of the best Off-Broadway theaters in New York. It often houses shows that eventually move on to Broadway.

WHAT ARE CRITICS SAYING?

With apologies to Sheldon Harnick: A children's show with music and lyrics by Carol Hall (who wrote Best Little Whorehouse in Texas) and a book by Glen Berger (who wrote the downtown hit Underneath the Lintel) sounds crazy, no? Well, actually the fruits of their collaboration,
Max and Ruby, being presented by Theaterworks/USA at the Lucille Lortel Theatre, might be a little crazy, but only in a way that will delight and entrance the children in the audience.

Randy White's fleet, 45-minute production, aided by Tracy Beasley's sprightly choreography, takes place on Luisa Thompson's imaginative set, which contains more than a few surprises as it revolves and opens like a pop-up book. Max (Lee[...]
