WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
The exclusive US engagement of Bausch's sensual, unabashedly romantic piece, Masurca Fogo, marks Tanztheater Wuppertal's 25th anniversary. Bursts of dialogue, and a rush of visually arresting images explode as fearless dancers careen down a plastic water slide, then infiltrate the audience for an impromptu twirl. Portuguese fado and Brazilian samba, alongside k.d. lang, and Duke Ellington, yield an irresistible score to which dancers create a series of visually arresting images.
