WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
Marina: A Captive Spirit is based on the life and writings of Russian poet Marina Tsvetaeva. Opera, poetry, and visual artistry are woven together as characters sing traditional opera and others are played with spoken voice. A live musical quartet on stage adds to the magical spell cast by this legendary 20th century figure. The music is composed by Deborah Drattell, with a libretto by Annie C. Finch. Anne Bogart directs.
