WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

In Lisa Loomer's Living Out, an LA power couple, Nancy and Richard, hires a Salvadoran nanny, Ana. Ana has children of her own: one in El Salvador and--a fact she's learned to hide from her employers--one in LA. She also has an undocumented husband. Slowly the half-truths and evasions pile up, until both couples and their children become entangled in ways no one wanted or imagined.

$10 student rush tickets are available 30 minutes prior to curtain.

WHAT ARE CRITICS SAYING?

In Living Out, Lisa Loomer has crafted an entertaining and thoughtful play that raises provocative questions about race, class, and the raising of children. Set in Los Angeles, the story revolves around Ana (Zilah Mendoza), an illegal immigrant working as a nanny to other women's kids even though she has two young boys of her own; one lives with Ana and husband Bobby (Gary Perez) in the U.S. while the other remains in El Salvador. By working, Ana hopes to raise enough money to bring him over, as well. The title of the play refers to the living situation of the nanny: Those who live in their employer's household "live in," while those who return to their own homes after work "live out."
