Second Stage Theatre launches its 31st season with the New York premiere of Anna Deavere Smith's Let Me Down Easy. Conceived, written, and performed by Ms. Smith and directed by Leonard Foglia, the piece explores the world of healthcare from both the patient and practitioner perspective.

Anna wins!
While some of the monologues are better than others, but the overall effect is mesmerizing. Some of the characters a doctor at Charity Hospital in New Orleans during Katrina; a woman who works in an AIDS hospice for children in South Africa are almost unbearably moving. While the play might not be the masterpiece that TWILIGHT was, it is a rare opportunity to watch a master of the genre do her thing. Go!

RE:definitely
ADS is mesmerizing to watch, even when the script loses its way. The audience ate her up, and with good reason. Go watch her be amazing.
