WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
In I See Fire in the Dead Man's Eye, a paralyzed man's thoughts are full of fight, but he is incapable of action. Incapable of helping his chain-smoking, isolated wife cope with a household out of control. And incapable of helping his teenage son, Timothy, transition into adulthood. He can only watch as Timothy grows more defiant by the day: disrespecting his mother and carrying on dangerous affairs with a neighborhood girl and the black maid's daughter. The father looks on helplessly from his perch in the middle of the living room as Timothy's senseless rebellions become more and more dangerous. The help is disgruntled, one of the son's girlfriends is passed out on the floor and the other might be pregnant, and the barn is on fire. All the while, Timothy is drinking vodka mixed with iced tea. It may not be poetic but hell, this is war, ain't it? A world premiere production presented Off-Broadway by Grass Arena, I See Fire in a Dead Man's Eye, written and directed by Kirk Marcoe, is a wildly theatrical excursion into a world of denial.
