WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

U.S. Premiere! From Tall Tales in Navan (County Meath), with a cast from Dublin. Part of 1st IRISH 2010, NY's annual festival of Irish Theatre. Two Dublin cousins are reunited on the eve of a family funeral in a highly charged encounter full of denial, disillusion and dark laughter. "Spontaneous applause and whoops of delight greet the opening performance." - Scottish Herald Tall Tales artistic director Deirdre Kinahan is one of Ireland's most prolific and celebrated new playwrights. Among her recent plays, "Moment" transfers to The Bush Theatre in London in February 2011. Her latest is "Bogboy." "Hue & Cry" opened in Dublin in 2007. "Deirdre Kinahan is one of Ireland's most exciting new playwrights exploring the big themes through small ordinary lives. Kinahan writes comedy and tragedy in a minor key, it is not unusual to find high drama smuggled into her plays… a striking writer" - The Irish Times 1st Irish, powered by Origin Theatre Company, runs from September 7 through October 4. 1st Irish is New York's first and only all-Irish theatre festival.
